Before this project, this restroom was nearly unusable. A sink was in the way of the path to the toilet, and the only usable storage was a small vanity cabinet. The shag carpet was an unfortunate existing flooring choice. The bathroom felt small, and there was a three foot strip of wasted space in an awkward closet and piece of hallway outside the room. Removing key walls and relocating the sink nearly doubled the usable space in the bathroom.
A wood (and tile) accent strip unifies the design, pushing in and out of the wall to provide storage just where it’s needed, giving a spot for everything from towels to toilet paper. For all those little personal care items you want handy but not on display, the body mirror slides over, with plenty of hidden shelves and even a timed outlet for a hair dryer. Now, this bathroom is less of a necessary evil and more like a functional spa.
